Beautifully decorated old world Italian restaurant. Great service and food. Piano player was a nice edition and he wasn't loud. Nice background. We'll definitely return. You should go. You won't be disappointed.
My third time here and second time dining in was earlier tonight. That Torchette, which is my favorite dish here was really delicious, aromatic and very fresh in every bite. Imo, it was the best vodka pasta I have ever had with the ones from Il Bracco and Romano's coming in right after it. In terms of texture, the pasta was very good and handmade containing a nice little bounce in feel combined with great softness simultaneously. It paired wonderfully with the creamy, zesty and very mildly spicy vodka sauce. The little bit of ground meat in the pasta added more depth and savoriness due to good seasoning. The pasta was also dense enough to stand out on its own and really bring out that excellent vodka sauce flavor. Very efficient, attentive and very friendly service on this visit. I still need to get a dessert here in the future.
This place is so romantic, the piano playing in the background, twinkling lights, and excellent service all contribute to a wonderful dining experience. Very authentic Italian food.
I looooove this place! The vibe is so romantic and the restaurant is welcoming. I have eaten here a few times and I have got to say my fave dish is the lasagna! We've had multiple dishes and I haven't been disappointed! Everyone is friendly and the waitstaff is very courteous.
We started out when the waiter brought their large bread basket from which you can choose amongst half a dozen types of bread; my suggestion if you're into "tasty" is to go with the focaccia, and also because it's easy to manipulate in the dip which is oil and several herbs and a big bulb of roasted garlic. As an appetizer we ordered the lobster bisque and the arugula salad. The lobster bisque was a light, slightly thinner version than I'm used to, but I thought it was actually packed with a lot of good flavor. Mr.Picky took a bite of my arugula salad with the little miniature dried figs and the candied pecans and decided to keep that salad plate and pushed his soup over to me. I liked them both and didn't care which I was eating. He liked the balsamic vinegar on the salad. Next time on that salad I would again have them hold on the prosciutto, have extra candied pecans, and also ask them to add extra little baby dried figs because those were a yummy bite. For my part, I was craving pasta and my favorite food which is cheese so I told the waiter to ignore the prosciutto and just put the mozzarella on this dish which is a spaghetti and oil base entrée. When serving the dish he grated Parmesan onto it and I told him to just keep grating for the next week. LOL. That was a very simple plate of spaghetti that was absolutely enjoyable and satisfied all my cravings. Mr. Picky made a great choice when ordering the lasagna which arrived at the table piping hot, looking really pretty, and tasting just as good. You couldn't go wrong ordering that; I stole a bite and thought it was excellent. We finished by both selecting the key-lime pie which looked and tasted homemade to me, enjoyed it (I later asked and Sergio said they make everything here on the premises, and that definitely comes across on the taste of the food); the key-lime pie was the best I've tasted in years. The restaurant decor is traditional, and nicely comfortable. Our waiter Sergio was very helpful in answering my many questions. We both ordered the Power Lunch and that's an amazing deal at $35. Overall, the food was really great and Mr. Picky lamented we had to drive the miles to get here, but thought it was worth the trip. We've been bemoaning the lack of great Italian restaurants in Houston, but we think we just found one with this location. Can't wait to eat here again when we're back in the area.
I had a wonderful solo date at Sorrento Ristorante via online reservation through Open Table. When I arrived, I was seated immediately at the bar where my seat was decorated with a heart shaped napkin. I ordered the soft polenta and crab cake, caesar salad and the pizza as well as 2 glasses of Prosecco. Overall, the experience was wonderful, the live piano was an added bonus and I'd definitely return back for a solo date or romantic date.
My initial visit to Sorrento Ristorante Italiano was with a group of five celebrating a birthday. The restaurant was very busy with densely populated patrons requiring careful maneuvering when moving about the dining room. We sat in an enclosed section that appeared to be a patio which offered plenty of space and a very comfortable environment. We all sampled each other's dishes and they ranged from not so great to superb. My entree was the Braised Beef Short Rib which was absolutely outstanding. The opposite end was the sea bass which was overcooked and tough. Others were pleased with their pasta dishes and the bread tray was not only a cool display, it tasted great regardless of the selection. I certainly return because they proved to me that they can produce some incredible food.
This is my first time at this establishment when we arrived, we were greeted right away. We were seated in the little wine room with a round table. When everyone was seated, they took the drink orders and brought over a Buffet wheel of bread. They had many selections to choose from my favorites were the onion bread and the sourdough bread. On the table, they had olive oil with a balsamic vinegar that had some herbs in it, and a little spice and roasted garlic. We were handed menus and given the specials of the day. We started with Calamari and Mussels, the Calamari was crispy and tender and the Mussels had good flavor but were tiny and a little overcooked. I decided to order the seafood pasta tossed in an olive oil and garlic sauce. There was a variety of seafood in the dish, mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and fish. All I can say, is, delicious. Service was very attentive and accommodating. They have a variety of desserts. I decided to pass on dessert and ordered coffee. The coffee was smooth and flavorful. I also enjoyed the piano music they had playing in the background . Overall, this was a really good experience. Would definitely come back. I gave a five because the service was really good.
From the live piano music to the giant selection of Italian breads and roasted garlic spread, this restaurant blew me away in quality and quantity before we even ordered an entree. My group had originally planned to eat elsewhere, but when that place was closed, Sorrento came up on the nearby recommendations and we were so impressed. The staff were friendly-even when we were a bit under dressed-kept the water glasses full, and gave wonderful recommendations for the menu. The noodles are freshly made and the white sauce was the best I have ever tasted on fettuccine. My friend got the lasagna and you could tell everything it was made with was fresh and high quality. I can't wait to come back for a nice birthday dinner or celebration.
